Notes for William Edward Daugherty
William E. Daugherty, 65, of Trafford, died Tuesday, July 12, 2005, in his home. He was born Oct. 20, 1939, in Trafford, the son of the late William N. and Catherine Seewald Daugherty. Bill was a licensed funeral director for 43 years with the former William N. Daugherty Funeral Home in Trafford. He was the owner of the former Mini Mart in Swissvale, having been only the 13th store of its kind in the nation, and he was the former owner of the Country Corner in Pitcairn. Bill served in the U.S. Army for six years as a medic with the 339th General Hospital. He also was a retired member and past president of the Trafford Fire Co. #1 and he was a former member and past president of the Trafford Lions Club. He is survived by his wife, Kathy O'Keane Daugherty; two sons, William D. and wife, Tracy, of Laughlintown, and Patrick W., of Trafford; and a daughter, Dawn Metz, of Ligonier; four grandchildren, Alexandra, Emily, Mason and Jackson Daugherty; and a cousin, Fae Jean Croft, of Florida. Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the JOHN M. DOBRINICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 602 Seventh St. (Route 130), Trafford, 412-372-3111, at which time a memorial service will be held with the Rev. Ben McKee officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Vitas Innovative Hospice Care, 3520 Route 130, Suite 3001, Irwin, PA 15642.
