Death has at last claimed one of the mos* venerable and dear old ladies that Dayton ever kaew, and in that claim death has taken from one of the largest families in the city, its parent. She has gone at the ripe old age of ninety-three, to join her husband, who has gone before.
The death of Mrs. Eva Gebhart was announced last evening to the hosts of friends who awaiting the coming of the harvester and whose entrance into that household was but the matter of a short time.
She was not sick nor lid the pangs of stiffening agonize her last moments on earth, was calm her death was but all
Was but the running out of the sand from the hour-glass and she passed peacefully and quietly away.
Mrs. Eva Gebhart was the mother of Simon, Mary Ann, David and Joseph R. Gebhart, of this city, all of whom are here but Mr. David Gebhart, who is at present in Europe with his family.
Mrs. Gebbart, whose maiden name was Eva Hay, was born in Somerset county, Pennsylvania, in the year 1790, and in 1815 was married to George Gebhart, who was also a native of Pennsilvania, and who died in this city some thirty-three years ago. Mr. George Gebhart was a brother of Mr. Frederick Gebbart and Judge Harman Gebhart, both now deceased. About the year 1883, George Gebbart, with his family, moved from Pennsylvania to Monroe, Michigan, where they lived until in 1847 the family came to Dayton, where Mr. Gebhart died, and Mrs. Gebhart has ever since lived with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She has resided for some years past at a comfortable home built for her on south Wilkinson street, where she died.
Due notice will be given of the funeral.
