Notes for Betty Ann (Spouse 1)
Betty Anne Whitfield, 87, Altoona, passed away Sunday morning at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Greensburg, daughter of the late Jacob and Lorene (Rose) Brown.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles L. Whitfield, on Dec. 29, 2018. They were married on Aug. 17, 1957, in Greensburg.
Surviving are two children, Douglas A. Whitfield and Amy B. Whitfield, both of Altoona; and five grandchildren: Brad, Brooke, Brady, Bryce and Kaylee.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by two children, Cheryl Ann and Gregory Scott.
Betty was a 1953 graduate of Greensburg High School. She graduated from Waynesburg College with a B.A. in Elementary Education.
She was a teacher from 1958-61, and then devoted her time to her family.
Betty was a member of Wehnwood United Methodist Church. She was an avid Penn State and Steelers football fan, and enjoyed painting watercolors, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Friends will be received from 1:30 until the 2:30 p.m. Celebration of Life Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Wehnwood United Methodist Church, with Pastor Randy Willis officiating.
Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park.
Arrangements are by The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona.
