Notes for William “Bill” Karl (Spouse 1)
WILLIAM ‘BILL’ K. THOMPSON William “Bill” Karl Thompson, 83, of Gilbertsville, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest. He was the husband of Annette (Krzysiek) Thompson celebrating 39 years of marriage on July 17, 2015. Born in Canonsburg, PA he was the son of the late John I. and Natalie (Maffet) Thompson. He was a 1951 graduate of Peters Township High School in McMurray, PA, was then drafted into the U.S. Army serving in Germany in the 964th Field Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean Conflict. He then attended Franklin and Marshall College and Millersville University. Bill worked for the National Cash Register Company, owned Thompson Cash Register Company in Lancaster, PA and retired as an outside Gas and Welding Salesman for Airco-BOC. He was a member of the Clan Moffat Society, finding his Scottish heritage through genealogy, the Pottstown Area Amateur Repeater Club and was eligible to be a Son of the American Revolution. Bill’s interests were wide and he enjoyed singing, photography, skeet shooting, building, electronics, computers, cars, planes, motorcycles and anything that was technical that he could tinker with. He was proud of his restoration of an antique 1946 Ercoupe plane, a 1957 Triumph TR3, his Triumph Bonneville motorcycle and his G Scale trains running overhead in the ceiling – all labors of love….his collection of tools. Bill is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Annette; two daughters, Diane Houser of Lititz and Janis Taft of Lynchburg, OH; two grandchildren, Shelby Houser of Manheim and Greg Houser of Richmond, VA; and several beloved nieces and nephews especially, Jim, Paul, and Marianne and great-nieces and great-nephews. At his request, there will be no services.
