Notes for John Maffet
Emigrate from Ireland in 1774.
A story is that John Maffet absconded to the Indiana Territory and left his wife and kids about 1801. His wife Jane sold some of the "fruit bearing trees" etc under her name in 1814 and in 1802 petitioned the PA government to have her children attached to trades since her husband left her. Some of the Maffet relatives were married to people who went to Wills Eye Hospital and one of them started a school for mixed race children, etc.
