Dorothy Ruth Battenfield (12/19/1910 - 07/06/2007)
Dorothy Ruth Battenfield, 96, a seven-year resident of Romeo, Mich., and formerly of Connellsville, passed away Friday, July 6, 2007, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Clinton Township, Mich. Dorothy was born Dec. 19, 1910, in Connellsville, the daughter of Henry C. and Bessie (Morgan) Miller. She married Roy Emerson Battenfield in 1930 in Connellsville, and he preceded her in death on May 9, 1983. Dorothy worked for West Penn Power Co. for many years. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church since 1923, and belonged to the Kathern Francis Class and the Women's Circle. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Dorothy Louise Showman, of Romeo, and her children (grandchildren), Edwin J. Showman, of Connellsville, Kay L. Hayward, of Hillman, Mich., and David L. Showman, of Romeo; great grandsons, Robert R. and Nickolas E. Showman, both of Romeo, and Edward C. and Brad A. Showman, both of Connellsville; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by all of her siblings, Florence M. Beatty, Eleanor McKee, Anna Pearl Feathers, and Charles H., Harry C. and Clyde E. Miller. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Wesley United Methodist Church in Connellsville, the hour of the funeral service with Pastor Craig Forsythe officiating. Burial will follow at Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville. Arrangements by HENRY M. MALBURG FUNERAL HOME, Romeo, Mich., 586-752-2000.
