Bertha was a good cook and worked hard to take care of the family. She also raised the granddaughter of the mother who died. CurtBrown and his mother Dora gave them food and hand-down clothes. The oldest daughter, Margaret, lived with Uncle Frank, her grandfather. After graduation from high school she worked in Jeanette, Pa. at Westmoreland Glass Co. decorating milk glass.

Martha Marks-Ike chauffered for Brian Brother's Glass Co. On Sunday they loaned the car to Ike-watching all the kids get in and out of the car when they visited the Dora Brown Marks family was quite a sight.
Curt Brown and Dora Marks would give them extra food from the garden and any hand-me down clothes that they could find. They were a very caring family.
