MILITARY RECORD:
Enlisted in PA. National Guard. Served in WW11 from 17 Feb 1941 to 21 Jan 1946. Graduated from the Army School of Engineering and went overseas in 1943. Earned rank of captain when landing at Casablanca, Africa.
June 1943. He made many amphibian landings and Commanded his company 1944/45 during the blitz in Alsacs, France. Took part in landings at Sicily, Naples, Foggio, Rome, Arno, Southern France and Rhineland Central Europe. At the close of operations in Europe he was in charge of Headquarter Department. He was discharged in 1946 and remained in the Reserve.
MEDALS: Legion of Merit for outstanding service during the invasions, six battle stars,
a bronze medal and a bronze arrow. He was decorated with the Military Cross of Valor by the Italian Government.

Marie's family came from Germany. Her grandfather was the owner of a brewery in Scranton, PA. Her father was employed at a bank. He died when Marie was 5 years old. She had a brother who died Nov. 1991.
